Yuet Gong Yuet Yau Mei is a creative collection inspired by Ipoh’s rich Cantonese-speaking culture.

Growing up in Ipoh, Cantonese has never been just a language of communication. It is a way of life, a familiar rhythm, and a warm connection between people.

This collection brings together the Cantonese sayings, neighbourhood catchphrases, and everyday humour we grew up hearing, and reinterprets them through retro Chinese typography and hand-drawn street-style illustrations—turning them into apparel for this generation.

Some Cantonese phrases can be translated in meaning, but their true “flavour” can never be fully translated. It is the humour of Cantonese, the warmth of the neighbourhood, and the distinct local flavour of Ipoh—something deeply rooted in our shared memories of growing up.

Through this collection, we hope to let people wear Cantonese with pride, so that our voices can continue to be seen, and the culture and flavour behind them can continue to live on.

《粤讲粤有味》源自怡保浓厚的广东话生活文化。

在怡保长大，广东话从来不只是一种沟通语言，它更是一种生活方式，一种人与人之间熟悉又亲切的连接。

我们把从小听到大的广东话俗语、街坊口头禅和生活幽默，结合复古中文排版与手绘街头插画，重新设计成属于这一代人的服饰。

因为有些广东话翻译得出意思，却永远翻译不出那阵“味”——那是广东话的幽默味、街坊的人情味，也是怡保独有的本地味，承载着我们成长记忆里最熟悉的声音与情感。

希望透过这系列设计，把广东话穿上身，让属于我们的声音继续被看见，也让这份文化与味道继续传下去。
